MASJID
MEA JUMA Masjid was constructed by GEC students and professors before the hostel came into existence, who were in need for a mosque in the immediate premises of the campus. As they faced difficulty in attending Friday Sermon and lack of nearby mosques at Ramavarmapuram. The masjid helped in fostering and sustain religous devotion among the students of GEC and to work for the educational, social, cultural and economic advancement of Muslims around the area. All the neighbours and workers nearby is now dependent on the masjid to offer their prayers and have played their own part in the advancement of the mosque to become a center for Muslims in the area. The masjid is seen filled with peoples comimg with their families from different areas for participating in Friday Sermons.
MESS
The MEA mess is managed by inmate students with the help of a cook and helpers. The malabari cuisine of MEA mess was well known from the beginning itself. The guest facility at the hostel attracted many students of the college. The mess thus became a centre of cultural interaction and communal harmony. A third year student appointed by students themselves as the Chief Mess Director (CMD) is the one who leads from the front. The CMD was a powerful and influential post at the MEA mess throughout. The CMD post also played a vital role in the managerial, executional and leadership skill development of the inmates. The menu is selected by inmates without exceeding the budget.
